If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from my mother, it’s the art of jugaad, i.e. customising things you can’t find (read afford) in stores. Splatter-paint-print clothes are soo on trend right now and I’m absolutely in love with them. They’re fun, funky and super chill. But, instead of spending half my allowance on one top, I decided to create one for myself! So I got me an oversized t-shirt from Primark (£2) and some pearl-sheen acrylic paint (£5)! I love this muted pink shade (excellent neutral base), cuz it goes with pretty much everything and is so much chicer than boring old grey/white/black. I chose high sheen paint for the splatter because the contrast between the dull cotton t-shirt and the shiny paint elevates the entire thing from blah to high-fashion.
I accessorised the outfit with a classic brown braided belt (to cinch me in at the waist and provide some shape to the overall look) from H&M; a few rings (cuz duh it’s me) from H&M and Topshop; a classic denim jacket (my Spring staple) from H&M; and a cute black leather Marc B. sling bag with a metal and leather chain (to add to the whole hipster-chic theme) from Topshop.
So, go ahead and create your own high-fashion pieces using the classic (and incredibly therapeutic) method of splatter painting and make sure you tag me in the pictures!
